Fall has quietly arrived on the Palmer Ranch corridor, and it brings with it a handful of things I have been watching closely. From a new recreation feature at the preserve to the continued transformation of the old Sarasota Square site, there is real momentum here, and it is shaping up to be a wonderful season to tour the area.
A New Pump Track Coming to Scherer Thaxton Preserve
One of the most exciting additions for anyone who loves to get outside: a pump track and skate facility is expected to debut at Scherer Thaxton Preserve before the end of the year. If you have a young rider or simply enjoy a good bike session, it is going to be a wonderful, low-key amenity right here in the South Sarasota community. It adds one more reason the Osprey and South Sarasota stretch of the corridor feels so livable, right alongside the trails and green space that already run through it.
The SSQ Transformation Rolls On
The redevelopment of the former Sarasota Square Mall into SSQ continues to take shape, with the Whole Foods anchor and a lineup of restaurants pacing toward opening in early 2027. For anyone who has watched this site for years, it is remarkable to see it come alive. The construction is well along, and the community is already talking about how convenient it will be to have a full grocery and dining anchor minutes from so many Palmer Ranch neighborhoods, including Grand Palm and the communities along the trail corridor.
Fall Touring Season Is Underway
From a real estate standpoint, this is my favorite window of the year. The heat eases, the model homes are in full swing, and buyers from out of state arrive on more comfortable flights and cooler afternoons. If you have been thinking about a move to the Gulf Coast, late September and October are the ideal weeks to tour the Palmer Ranch corridor. The resort pools, golf clubs and maintenance-free living are all at their best, and you get a true feel for the community before the winter season crowds arrive.
The Social Season Returns
Beyond the building cranes, the neighborhood calendar is filling up again. Weekend events across Venice, downtown Sarasota and the nearby beaches mean there is always something to walk to or drive a short way for. Between the new recreation coming to the preserve and the steady progress on SSQ, it feels like the corridor is only getting better with every passing month.
If you would like a guided tour of the communities and new construction that fit your wish list, let’s set something up. I would love to show you around while the season is just getting started.
