One of the most fun events of the late summer is coming up: Dawg Days of Summer at CoolToday Park in North Port on Saturday, August 8 at 4 p.m. This free community celebration has become a beloved annual tradition, and it's just 15 minutes east of Palmer Ranch down Center Road.
The lineup includes live music, a hot dog eating contest, weiner dog races (yes, actual dachshund races), a kids play area, splash zone, and free hot dogs and lemonade. CoolToday Park is also the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves, and the stadium is a beautiful venue year-round. Music on Main returns to Lakewood Ranch on Friday, August 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. on Main Street at Waterside Place. August's lineup features Ya Ya & The Diamond Chasers, a high-energy band that gets the whole street dancing. This free monthly street party includes food vendors, beer trucks, and that wonderful community atmosphere where neighbors run into neighbors.
Waterside Place is about 15 minutes from Palmer Ranch up University Parkway, and the evening atmosphere there is consistently lovely — with the fountain-lit plaza, outdoor dining, and waterfront views. This month's Music on Main benefits HOPE Family Services, so you can enjoy a great night out while supporting a meaningful cause.
