July is winding down, but the community calendar is as full as ever. From the Taste of the Ranch culinary series at Waterside Place to the return of Music on Main in Lakewood Ranch, there's plenty to look forward to. And on the market side, summer inventory is holding steady with some interesting shifts worth noting.
A Taste of the Ranch at Waterside Place
Through August 1, Waterside Place in Lakewood Ranch is running A Taste of the Ranch, a culinary event that highlights the restaurant scene along the Lakewood Ranch corridor. Participating restaurants are offering special tasting menus and small plates, making it easy to sample several spots in one evening. The lineup includes options at BoatHouse Waterfront Dining, Eddie V's, and other Waterside Place favorites.
The event runs alongside the regular Friday and Saturday evening live music series at The Plaza, so you can pair dinner with live music under the string lights. Waterside Place is about 15 minutes north of Palmer Ranch up University Parkway, and it's one of my favorite spots for a relaxed evening out. The atmosphere is unbeatable — a real community gathering space with a waterfront view and great food.
Music on Main Returns August 7
Music on Main is back in Lakewood Ranch on Friday, August 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. This is the monthly free street party and concert on Main Street, and the August lineup features Ya Ya & The Diamond Chasers — a high-energy party band that always draws a big crowd. Food vendors and beer trucks line the street, and the whole event benefits HOPE Family Services, a local nonprofit.
Music on Main is one of those events that really captures the community spirit of the area. Main Street Lakewood Ranch closes down for the evening, and people of all ages come out to dance, eat, and enjoy the warm summer night. It's about 15 minutes from Palmer Ranch, and parking is free in the garage on Main Street. I'll be there — come say hi if you see me.
Sarasota Square Progress Update
Construction continues at the Sarasota Square redevelopment site on the corner of Beneva and 41. The Whole Foods anchor is progressing toward its opening later this year, and the residential component above the retail is taking shape. I've been getting questions from buyers about the timeline here, and while no official opening date has been announced yet, the pace of construction has been steady throughout the summer.
This project is going to be a significant amenity for the Palmer Ranch corridor — walkable shopping and dining, a Whole Foods market, and new rental options all within a few minutes of the Palmer Ranch neighborhoods. It's another piece of the puzzle that makes this area appealing to buyers who want a convenient, amenity-rich lifestyle.
Summer Market Pulse
Inventory on the Palmer Ranch corridor is holding relatively steady for July. We're seeing a moderate number of new listings come on the market each week, and the well-priced homes in the most desirable communities — Talon Preserve, VillageWalk, and Prestancia — continue to attract buyer interest. Days on market are ticking up slightly from the spring frenzy, which is normal for summer, but that also means buyers have a bit more breathing room to make thoughtful decisions.
If you're considering a move to the Gulf Coast, summer is actually a great time to start the conversation. The pace is more relaxed, inventory is still solid, and the fall market typically brings fresh listings. Whether you're months away or ready to start touring, I'd love to hear from you. There's no better time to get to know the communities and find the right fit.
Looking Ahead to August
August brings a shift in rhythm on the Gulf Coast. The summer crowds start to thin, the heat is still present but the evenings get noticeably longer, and the community calendar shifts toward early fall previews. Englewood Pioneer Days is coming up over Labor Day weekend (August 30 through September 1), and the Ringling Summer Circus Spectacular continues through August 8 at the Historic Asolo Theater.
As always, if you're thinking about making the move to the Gulf Coast or just want to learn more about the Palmer Ranch area, explore the communities or reach out anytime. I'd love to help you find your perfect spot on the coast.
