If you haven't spent an evening at Marina Jacks recently, this week is a perfect excuse. Sitting right on Sarasota Bay with views of the marina and the downtown skyline, Marina Jacks is one of those spots that still gives me that "I can't believe I live here" feeling — even after 24 years in this market.
The outdoor dining area and the upstairs Marina Jacks Two lounge both offer waterfront seating that's hard to beat on a summer evening. On Wednesdays and weekends, they typically feature live music on the patio, and the sunset views from the second-floor balcony are some of the best in the city. I'd recommend arriving around 6 p.m. to grab a table before the golden hour rush. Order the grouper and settle in — it's the kind of evening that makes you forget what day it is.
Saturday Sarasota Farmers Market
The Sarasota Farmers Market is a Saturday morning institution, and it runs year-round — even through the summer months when other cities' markets shut down. Every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Main Street between Links Avenue and Lemon Avenue fills up with local produce vendors, artisan bakers, fresh seafood, handmade goods, and live acoustic music.

Art Ovation Hotel: Summer Gallery Features
The Art Ovation Hotel in downtown Sarasota keeps its lobby and courtyard spaces rotating with local and regional artists throughout the summer. It's not a formal gallery opening — it's more of a come-as-you-are, grab-a-cocktail-and-wander kind of experience. The hotel's bar and restaurant are open to the public, and even if you're not staying there, it's a lovely spot for an evening out. I like to pair a visit with a walk along the bayfront or a stroll through the Palm Avenue galleries.
Why Summer Weeknights Matter Here
One of the things I always tell buyers who are visiting from out of state — especially those considering a move to Palmer Ranch, Nokomis, or the Siesta Key area — is to plan a visit during a regular week in the summer.
