FIFA World Cup Watch Parties at The Bay
If you haven't made it down to The Bay yet for the FIFA World Cup 2026 watch parties, this is the week to do it. The city's gorgeous waterfront green space on Sarasota Bay has become the unofficial headquarters for World Cup fever, with free large-screen match broadcasts happening daily through the tournament final on July 19.
I was there last week for a group stage match and the energy was incredible — food trucks, local beer vendors, fans in jerseys from a dozen countries, all sitting on the grass with the Ringling Causeway Bridge glowing behind them. It's the kind of community gathering that reminds you why Sarasota is special.
The watch parties are presented in partnership with Sarasota Paradise and include fan zones, food trucks, and occasional player appearances. Matches are shown on a massive outdoor screen right on the waterfront. It's free to attend — just show up, grab a spot on the lawn, and enjoy the match with a view of Sarasota Bay you won't get at any sports bar. Saturday Sarasota Farmers Market
The Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. along North Lemon Avenue, and it's as much a Sarasota institution as anything on the cultural calendar. This time of year, the market is bursting with summer produce — local tomatoes, mangoes, fresh herbs, and handmade goods from dozens of vendors.
My recommendation: arrive by 8:00 a.m. to beat the heat and get the best selection. Grab a coffee from one of the local roasters, wander the produce stalls, and listen to whatever live music is playing near the main stage. It's the kind of Saturday morning ritual that makes living on the Gulf Coast feel like a permanent vacation. The market runs rain or shine every single week of the year.
Ringling Summer Circus Spectacular
The Summer Circus Spectacular at The Ringling's Historic Asolo Theater continues its run through August 8, and it's one of those Sarasota experiences you really shouldn't miss. Presented in partnership with The Circus Arts Conservatory, the show features aerial artistry, comedy, and world-class circus performers in a beautifully restored historic theater.
Showtimes are Tuesday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Ringling also has the Open Studio program running through July 22 at the Museum of Art — a free creative program that's perfect for a weekday afternoon visit. And if you're active military, admission to the entire museum campus is free through Labor Day.
Fourth of July Week Preview
Independence Day falls on a Saturday this year, and Sarasota is gearing up for a big one. Here's what to put on your calendar:
- Spirit of '76 Block Party — Friday, July 3, 7:00–10:00 p.m. at Selby Five Points Park downtown. Live music, local vendors, and the "Light Up the Sky" projection mapping installation. Free.
- Bayfront Park Fireworks — Saturday, July 4, 9:00 p.m. The city's official fireworks over Sarasota Bay. Arrive early for a good spot on the grass.
- Siesta Key Fourth of July Parade & Fireworks — Saturday, July 4. The Village parade with golf carts in red, white, and blue, followed by fireworks over the Gulf. A Siesta Key tradition.
- Venice Centennial Independence Day Parade — Saturday, July 4, 9:30 a.m. on W. Venice Avenue, followed by a picnic and fireworks at North Brohard Beach at 9:00 p.m.

Florida Studio Theatre
If you want to escape the afternoon heat and catch some live theater, Florida Studio Theatre has several shows running right now. "Dog Mom" — a comedy by Tate Elizabeth Hanyok — is playing in the Keating Theatre through July 26. The cabaret lineup is strong too, with "From Woodstock to Soft Rock" opening in the Court Cabaret on July 7. It's downtown, it's air-conditioned, and it's the kind of thing that makes Sarasota feel like a much bigger city than it is.
Sundays at The Bay
Looking for a laid-back way to close out the weekend? Sundays at The Bay features live acoustic music on the waterfront lawn every Sunday through August 31. It's free, it's outdoors, and the vibe is exactly what you'd want from a Gulf Coast Sunday — relaxed music, a cool bay breeze, and the kind of sunset that makes you forget the rest of the world exists. Bring a blanket, grab something from the food trucks, and settle in.
